Mahale Mountains
Tracking wild chimpanzees in a forest that tumbles into Lake Tanganyika.
Why Mahale Mountains
Mahale is one of only two places on Earth to track habituated wild chimpanzees in their natural rainforest habitat. Beach camps line the shore of Lake Tanganyika, the second-deepest lake in the world.
Days are spent trekking in the forest with researchers; afternoons are for kayaking, snorkelling and reading on the beach.
